Toyota Camry Preview

For the 2016 model year, Toyota redesigned and revamped its flagship, best-selling sedan. The result is a more refined new-look for one of America’s favorite four-doors, and you’ll be sure to notice the Camry’s more aggressive profile and high-tech interior. Toyota hasn’t yet set a release date for the full line – but the limited-production 2016 Toyota Camry Special Edition will be available in the U.S. this month.

The 2016 Camry SE is an elegant, sporty sedan. It plays on the Camry design that has made this a perennial best-seller, and draws out new key features. In other words, the 2016 Camry SE provides the perfect preview of what the full line will look like when it’s released next year. Toyota of Knoxville wanted to look at some of the new features and the updated design of the 2016 Camry. Here’s what you can expect:

The Camry Special Edition will feature a limited run in the U.S. Just 12,000 vehicles will be produced, and the release will be America’s first look at the revamped 2016 Camry. There are certainly subtle differences and new features. Here’s what you can expect inside and out:

  • Exterior: In 2016, the Camry was set for an overhaul. But Toyota didn’t completely redesign the sedan from head-to-toe. Instead, Toyota has made a tweaks – like a more expansive front grille, more swooping headlines, and redesigned LED head- and tail-lamps. The Special Edition, though, receives a few unique updates, including machined 18-inch alloy wheels, a frosted taillamp treatment, and a powered moonroof. Plus, the SE is available in two limited edition colors: Blue Streak Metallic and Blizzard Pearl.
  • Interior: Toyota hasn’t messed much with the interior of the Camry. In 2016, the Camry line will still feature the spaciousness and elegance that many fans have come to love. Yet, Toyota has tweaked a few interior surfaces. For instance, the dashboard has undergone an extensive redesign. Now the center stack features a new-look technology interface, including available touchscreen displays. Plus, the Camry will feature USB outlets and an available wireless smartphone charging station. In the Special Edition, drivers will get a standard Entune audio/app suite, special dark blue trim, high-tech gauge interface, wireless phone charging and specialized sport fabric seating surfaces.
  • Safety Features: Many of the latest safety gadgets are available in the 2016 Toyota Camry. The new line will be available with a Lane Departure warning system, Blind Spot Monitoring with a Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and a Pre-Collision braking/warning system. Already, the Camry is a leading sedan in annual safety ratings, and these additions will likely help continue that tradition. They’re all available in the Special Edition.
  • Engine: The 2016 line features the same base engine: A 2.5-liter four-cylinder with six-speed automatic transmission that delivers 178 horsepower. Yet, there are new options, including a supped up 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 286 horsepower, and a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Hybrid engine. The 2016 SE is available with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder.

Pricing and Availability for the 2016 Toyota Camry
