New Toyota 4Runner

For long-time fans of the legendary Toyota 4Runner, this capable off-road performer is the pinnacle of rugged performance. Now, the newest Toyota 4Runner will include even more off-road capability and performance with the introduction of two new trim levels for 2017. The all-new 4Runner TRD Off-Road and 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium will take the place of the outgoing 4Runner Trail from 2016. This change is sure to please those diehard TRD fans who know just what it takes to make a vehicle worthy of this prestigious badge.

The new 2017 4Runner TRD Off-Road and Off-Road Premium models will take their place in the lineup directly under the existing 4Runner TRD Pro model, and will include many of that model’s rugged off-roading capabilities. These new trim levels will also be introduced with a new color for the lineup, being called “Cement.” It’s like a combination of battleship gray and pearlescent white—in a really good way.

New Off-Road Features for the 2017 4Runner TRD

Toyota 4Runner

As a member of the TRD family, the new 2017 4Runner will have all of off-road performance features and capabilities you’ve come to expect from these capable machines. Among the new features you’ll find includes Toyota’s Multi- Terrain Select system, standard in every TRD Off-Road. This system allows drivers to select from four modes that adjust the engine throttle setting and traction control to meet environmental conditions with a simple twist of a knob. Also standard is Crawl Control, which works to modulate the throttle and brakes when traversing uneven terrain. This feature gives you a choice of five settings to automatically climb over objects while the driver steers the course.

Another feature you’ll find on the new 2017 4Runner Off-Road and Off-Road Premium is the available Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System. This KDSS system allows the 4Runner Off-Road to automatically adjust the suspension for more wheel travel at slower speeds. Along with Active Traction Control and the electronically controlled locking rear differential, this 4Runner is a seriously refined off-roading competitor.
