2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD PRO

The 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro showed off its off-road prowess and took home the Mid-Size Pickup Truck of Texas Award. At the Longhorn River Ranch just outside of Austin, the 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD demonstrated its toughness with driving through moguls, climbing rocks, descending hills and more. And the award came as no surprise to Mike Sweers, Tacoma chief engineer. According to him “Toyota’s commitment to the new Tacoma TRD Pro was focused on meeting the needs of adventure-seekers where roads fear to tread, and we have proven that today.” It was two days of challenging on and off-road driving for the 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro.

Features that Made the 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro a Winner

TAWA members were greatly impressed by this pickup truck’s exhaust enhancements, off-road technology and suspension. The Tacoma TRD Pro was equipped with a progressive-rate off-road leaf spring, front springs with a 1-inch lift and Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Kevlar reinforced tires for navigation on the off-road course. Its special progressive-rate leaf springs out back assist with articulation and road absorption. All round, the 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is engineered for off-road adventure. Its Hill Start Assist Control, Crawl Control System, Active Traction Control, Locking Rear Differential and Multi-Terrain Select allowed the drivers to easily navigate over tough terrain during the test event. This road warrior produces 278 horsepower and comes with a V6 with a segment-first Atkinson Cycle engine.

Features that Make the 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro a Showstopper

The 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro isn’t a run-of-the-mill Tacoma. With its black hood scoop and fender flares, Pro badges on front doors and tailgate, Pro front skid plate, special LED fog lights and blacked-out head and taillight bezels, it’s a showstopper. All of these exterior features make it stand out from the crowd. It’s also available in three stunning colors: super white, cement or Barcelona red metallic. Choose a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission with this road warrior. Other standard features include a “leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, infotainment system, Go Pro camera mount, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking assist, and more. The four-way-adjustable black leather front seats are heated and have TRD Pro logos on the headrests, and a large color driver’s display in the cluster features showcasing incline gauges and integrated tilt.” Without a doubt, it’s locked, loaded and a nice rig.

More than 65 media members attended the Longhorn River Ranch test drive event of 82 vehicles from the world’s top truck manufacturers. With taking home the Mid-Size Pickup Truck of Texas
